The custodian role is the governance role assigned to the stakeholder appointed by a domain owner as a subject matter expert or service provider delivering a set of attributes to a specific service level to manage a part of the domain owner’s overall risk exposure. As part of this assignment, the custodian stakeholder is informed of their responsibility to the domain owner, including the expectations of the services and service levels they must meet, and they must undertake any required consultations with the domain owner to clarify these expectations and service levels prior to accepting any responsibility. Once the responsibility has been accepted, the custodian stakeholder must inform or report their progress and performance to the domain owner as required.
